Lady Raiders Edge Monroe in Overtime Thriller to Advance To NJCAA DIII Final Four

BROWNWOOD, TX — The Fulton-Montgomery CC women's basketball team battled through a hard-fought overtime contest Thursday afternoon, defeating Monroe University–Bronx 64–63 in a dramatic national tournament matchup.

After trailing early, the Lady Raiders showed resilience throughout the game and closed strong in overtime to secure the one-point victory.

Fulton-Montgomery struggled to find its rhythm in the opening quarter, falling behind 16–7. The Lady Raiders began to chip away in the second quarter, holding Monroe to just 10 points and heading into halftime trailing 26–19.

FMCC came out energized in the third quarter, outscoring Monroe 21–12 to take their first lead of the afternoon. The teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter, with Monroe edging the period 17–15 to send the game into overtime tied at 55.

In the extra period, both teams continued the back-and-forth battle, but the Lady Raiders made key plays down the stretch to escape with the 64–63 win.

Sophomore guard Hailey Monroe led Fulton-Montgomery with a game-high 31 points while adding eight rebounds and six steals in an outstanding all-around performance. Monroe went 10-of-11 from the free throw line and played all 45 minutes.

Kieonna Christmas recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds while also blocking four shots. Cloey Dopp contributed 12 points, including three three-pointers, and grabbed 10 rebounds for another double-double. Shiasia Williams added six points and eight rebounds, while Mattingly Hindes provided a spark off the bench with seven rebounds.

As a team, the Lady Raiders dominated the glass, outrebounding Monroe 53–47, including 19 offensive rebounds that created crucial second-chance opportunities.

Monroe was led by Aneyah McLamb with 29 points, while Beverly Williams added 18 points for the Mustangs.

With the win, Fulton-Montgomery improves to 24–3 on the season and advances in the national tournament.
