Fulton-Montgomery Community College women's basketball standout, Kieonna Christmas, has been named the NJCAA Region 3 Female Athlete of the Year, becoming the first student-athlete in FMCC history to earn the prestigious honor. The award recognizes the top female student-athlete across all sports within region 3.
Christmas capped off a historic season for the FMCC women's basketball program by leading the Lady Raiders to new heights while establishing herself as one of the premier players in junior college basketball. She averaged 17.8 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field. Her consistent excellence on both ends of the court helped drive the Raiders' success throughout the season and a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA DIII Championship Tournament.
Her remarkable campaign was recognized with an impressive list of accolades. Christmas was named the Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year and Region 3 Player of the Year for women's basketball. She was tabbed FMCC Female Athlete of the Year and earned First Team NJCAA All-American honors.
FMCC Athletic Director and Women's Basketball Coach Kevin Jones shared these remarks, "Kieonna had one of the greatest seasons from a Lady Raider in program history. Her size and versatility enabled her to play inside and out depending on the game situation. She could step out for the three or post someone deep under the basket. Being named an NJCAA 1st Team All-American, Region 3 and Mountain Valley Conference Player of Year while leading her team to the NJCAA National Championship semifinal is special."
As the first FMCC student-athlete to receive Region 3 Female Athlete of the Year honors, Christmas leaves a lasting legacy on the women's basketball program and reflects the continued growth and excellence of Raider Athletics.
