Men's Soccer

David Clayton will enter his third season as the head of the FMCC soccer program for the 2023 season. 

In his first two seasons at the helm, Clayton has led the men's team to a Region 3 Semi-Final appearance and has an overall record of 19-13 record. Head Coach David Clayton was named 2022 Men's Soccer Region III Coach of the Year. Marvin Koceku (midfield) was named to the 1^st Team All-Region. Daryl Kabasele (Striker) and Curtis Arnold (Curtis Arnold) were tabbed to the 2^nd Team All-Region, and Lewis Potter-Scarborough (defense) to the 3^rd Team.

The women's team finished the season 4-9 and featured one player on the all-region team. Clayton was selected as Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the year. 

Coach Clayton, born in Cardiff Wales UK, has been playing soccer since he was three years old. He is a 2003 graduate of Brookfield Central School where he holds the all-time record for goals scored. 

He continued playing soccer at Mohawk Valley Community College, where he earned his associate degree. Coach Clayton traveled to England and Wales playing for multiple teams before returning to the U.S. 

Clayton attended SUNY Empire State, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Economics. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University.

Coach Clayton has over 18 years of coaching experience at many different levels. David started with high school and club soccer and eventually moved his way to college. 

He was the women’s assistant soccer coach at Herkimer College where he was recognized as a 2016 NSCAA Junior College Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.  Most recently, he was the head men’s soccer coach at North Country Community College. In his first season, with just a few months to recruit, Clayton led his team to the Region 3 post-season tournament.  

In addition to college soccer, he coaches a semi-professional women’s team Krajisnik FC that takes part in the United Premier Soccer League which he has built from the ground up. David also built the men’s UPSL team back in 2017 with the backing of Krajisnik FC of Utica, NY.
