Ed Collar has been selected to return as the Head Coach for the Men's Basketball Team.

Ed Collar returns as the head coach of the Fulton Montgomery Community College men's basketball team. Collar previously served as the head coach for twelve years beginning in the 2008-09 season. He departed in 2020 to coach his sons at Gloversville High School for five seasons.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to come back to coach the men's basketball team at FMCC after leaving 5 years ago to coach my sons at Gloversville High School.  In my first twelve years at FM, we had a great deal of success on and off the court. Our players consistently put-up winning seasons and achieved success in regionals. We also developed many strong relationships in our program between players and coaches, which continue to this day. Our players have gone on to achieve much success in life, which is the ultimate reward," said Collar.

In those 12 seasons at the helm, Collar compiled 159 wins. Coach Collar led his 2018-19 team to a 20-win season and a Region 3 final four appearance. In 2017-18, his team went to the Region 3 Championship Game.

Collar was named Mountain Valley Conference and Region 3 coach of the year in 2019. He was named the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year for the 2011-12 season, when the Raiders compiled a 20-10 record.

"Our recruiting is off to a strong start with many former players and coaching contacts that are eager to reach out and send us quality players that will help continue our success at FM. I am also very excited to welcome back Arturo McLeod to our coaching staff. Arturo was an assistant during my first 12 years and will continue in that role. I will also be assisted by Jared DeMagistris and Justin Leo who are two talented coaches that assisted me in high school. Jamal Vazquez will also serve in a part time role as a volunteer assistant, while Jamin Clemente will be joining us as our statistician. Jamin has been a valuable person by my side as she has served in this role throughout my career. The combined support of our staff will set our players up for much success," said Collar.

Collar will be retiring in June 2025 after teaching 35 years of 6th grade social studies at Gloversville Middle School. He has hit the ground running with recruiting and has high hopes for the 2025-26 season.

"We are very excited about bringing Ed back and what he and his coaching staff can do for our men's basketball program. I am looking forward to a bright future and continuing to build our competitive program," said Athletic Director Kevin Jones.
