Fulton-Montgomery CC came up short in both ends of a doubleheader against Jefferson Community College on April 21 at Shuttleworth Park, falling 8-5 in Game 1 and 9-4 in Game 2.
In Game 1, the Raiders built an early 3-0 lead with runs in the first and second innings, getting key production from Isamu Shikama (2 RBI) and Po Ting Lin (two doubles, RBI). Cheng En Cai scored twice to help spark the offense.
On the mound, Kao Huai En was dominant early, allowing just one hit over 5.2 innings while striking out four and keeping Jefferson off the board through five.
Jefferson broke through with two runs in the sixth before erupting for six runs in the seventh to take control.
Fulton-Montgomery pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the comeback bid fell short. The Raiders collected eight hits in the loss.
In Game 2, The Raiders struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning before Jefferson answered with two runs in the second and three more in the fourth.
The Raiders responded with a three-run fourth inning to tie the game at 4-4, powered by a two-run home run from Soichiro Hanawa and a solo shot from Cheng En Cai.
Jefferson regained the lead with two runs in the sixth and added insurance in the seventh to secure the sweep.
Fulton-Montgomery outhit Jefferson 11-10, with multi-hit performances from Wataru Yamasaki, Hanawa, and Cai. Hanawa led the way with three RBI.
The Raiders are back in action on Friday, April 24th at Shuttleworth Park against SUNY Broome Community College.
