The FMCC Baseball team hosted SUNY Adirondack in a Mountain Valley Conference match-up on Tuesday afternoon. The Raiders split the doubleheader with the Timberwolves.
In game one, the Raiders offense and pitching was electric, defeating Adirondack 10-0 in six innings. FM got on the board in the second inning after Isamu Shikama singled, scoring two runs. Soichiro Hanawa hit a sacrifice fly, Brendan O'Connell singled and Yejune Lee Singled, all scoring runs.
Griffin Collins was stellar on the mound. The right hander gave up just one hit and zero runs over six innings of work. He struck out eight and walked just one batter.
The Raiders accumulated 14 hits in the game and Shikama went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Yejune Lee led with three hits in four at bats. Kao Huai En, O'Connell and Ryan Savoie each collected multiple hits.
In game two, the Raiders took the loss, 8-6. The Timberwolves jumped out to the lead in the first inning. FM answered by tying the game at 3-3 in the second inning. Savoie singled in the third inning, scoring two runs to give FMCC the 5-3 lead.
Adirondack jumped back into the lead in the sixth inning after scoring off defensive errors. The Raiders answered with one run in the 7th but came up short.
Savoie got the start on the hill for the Raiders. He allowed three hits and three earned runs over five and two-thirds innings. Savoie led at the plate going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
FM is back in action on Thursday at home. They will host Cayuga in a doubleheader at Shuttleworth park. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
