The men's soccer team finished regular season play on Saturday at Mohawk Valley Community College. The Raiders extended their winning streak to three games and came out of the match with a crucial 2-1 win on the road.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but the Raiders would not back down. Yasser Mourad found an open Jean Horacius who score FM's first goal of the match in the 27th minute. Jonathan Mendoza and the FM defense held Mohawk Valley at bay the rest of the half.
Just 16 seconds into the second half, Ahmed Mourad found the back of the net for his 7th goal of the season. FM was unable to score again, but the FM defense in Evan Luck, Michael Friguletto, Victor Valenzuela and Evan Wieczenski stalled the Hawk's offense and did not allow another score.
FM finishes the regular season 7-5-1 and finished 4-1 in conference play. The Raiders earn the 7th seed heading into the Region 3 post season tournament. FM will travel to Herkimer to play the #2 seeded Generals on Thursday, October 25th at 6:00 p.m.
"Our goal all year was to make the playoffs, we met that goal. My thing is once you get to the playoffs, you do whatever it takes. You've got to lay it on the line," said Coach Leggiero.
